Hall-kärbsenäpp

Akna kohal, räästa all on üks voodrilaud puudu. See laud on olnud sealt puudu nii kaua kui ma üldse mäletan. Ja nii sama kaua on seal pesitsenud hall-kärbsenäpp. Eelmisel suvel jäädvustasin esmakordselt nende väikeste, hallide linnukeste pesaelu. Seega on identse kompositsiooniga kaader sellest pesast mu blogis juba olnud. Tänavu märkasin hall-kärbsenäppide paari ka teiste hoonete juures takseerimas pesitsemisvõimalusi. Kas oli tegemist samade lindudega, kes akna kohal pesitsevad, seda ma muidugi ei tea. Kui kätte oli jõudnud selle aasta teine muruniitmise kord, istus üks lindudest pidevalt pesas. Iga kord kui muruniitjaga akna alt mööda läksin, lendas linnuke pesalt ja mina siirdusin kiirelt teiselepoole maja niitma. Ja sedasi kolm korda järjest. Paari päeva pärast pesa poole piiludes, olin ebameeldivalt üllatunud, sest pesa oli tühi. Hirmuga mõtlesin, kas tõesti ma rikkusin linnukeste pesaelu rahu niivõrd, et nad jätsid pesa maha!? Seda oli raske uskuda kuid pesa oli tühi ka järgneval päeval. Mõni aeg hiljem aga märkasin maja lähedal elektrikaablil halli linnukest. Binokliga uurides nägin, et see on ju hall-kärbsenäpp. Suunasin kiirelt binokli pesa poole ja hingasin kergendatult, pesal istus paariline.

Above the window, under the eaves, there is a missing board. This board has been missing there for as long as I can remember. And for just as long, a spotted flycatcher has been nesting there. Last summer, I first captured the nesting life of these small, gray birds. So, a shot with an identical composition of this nest has already been on my blog. This year, I noticed a pair of spotted flycatchers also assessing nesting opportunities near other buildings. Whether they were the same birds that nest above the window, I don’t know, of course. When it was time to mow the lawn for the second time this year, one of the birds was constantly sitting in the nest. Every time I passed under the window with the lawnmower, the bird flew away from the nest and I quickly moved to the other side of the house to mow. And so on three times in a row. A few days later, when I peeked into the nest, I was unpleasantly surprised because the nest was empty. I wondered with fear, had I really disturbed the birds’ nesting life to such an extent that they abandoned it!? It was hard to believe, but the nest was empty the next day. Some time later, however, I noticed a gray bird on an electric cable near the house. Examining it with binoculars, I saw that it was a spotted flycatcher. I quickly pointed the binoculars at the nest and breathed a sigh of relief, there was another bird sitting on the nest.
